Google’s announcement that it is developing its own operating system Chrome OS is a clear sign that the battle between the giants Google and Microsoft is inevitable. Google’s new operating system will be based on its recently released Chrome Web browser. Like the Chrome Web browser Chrome OS will be designed in a minimalist way. Google will move much of the user interface from the desktop environment to the Internet. This is something that targets Microsoft in it’s Achilles heel. If most software is web-based and free there is no need for expensive Microsoft Office bundles anymore.
