Official Google AdSense Blog showcases Website that displays AdSense near Adult Content

Google has clear guidelines as it comes to adult content and AdSense, but the article An effective pairing of AdSense and e-commerce on the Official Google AdSense Blog (June 4, 2007) showcases the French video-on-demand site Imineo.com that clearly violates Google’s AdSense Program Policies by displaying AdSense near explicit Adult Content.

As you can see in the video above, an AdSense ad unit is displayed on the same page where Imineo.com shows their visitors an adult preview video (I have censored the images because I show AdSense ads on this page ;-).
As a web professional I am always careful not to violate AdSense Program Policies. I am the owner of the quite popular website FindHerDifferences.com that has many photo hunt games with female celebs, but I never dared to show any nipple or pubic hair! But Google doesn’t seem very strict about Adult Content anymore.
I think it becomes time that Google loosens the AdSense Program Policies regarding Adult Content. Google is hypocrite* as it comes to Adult Content. Google refuses to run their AdSense ads on sites with Adult Content (although the above example proofs that Google isn’t very strict about it), but it has no problem driving traffic to the most filthy adult websites by their AdWords program. Google earns a huge amount of dollars by showing adult AdSense ads on google.com after someone searches for adult material.
The Google AdSense Blog article An effective pairing of AdSense and e-commerce says: “Overall, the use of AdSense can help sites like these increase overall revenue without changing their current business modelâ€. In the real online world many website owners have to change their current business model in order follow Google AdSense Program Policies! Many website owners have removed every nipple slip and other potential adult content because they know the AdSense team can be merciless if they think someone is breaking their TOS. Many site owners have been banned in the past for showing adult content. But the owner of Imineo.com is a lucky bastard, because he has increased his revenue without changing his business model, shows adult content and gets a great review on the Official Google AdSense Blog! A better title for the AdSense Blog article would have been An effective pairing of AdSense and adult content…
*Of course there is also some hypocrisy in me: I write about the hypocrisy of Google, and at the same time I earn some money with the help of Google AdSense. Besides their hypocrisy regarding adult content, I think Google AdSense is a great program…
